We founded the Dr. Chandra Sekhar Das Foundation in loving memory of our grandfather, Dr. Chandra Sekhar Das.​

 

Dr Das was not only our beloved grandfather; he was the heart of our childhood. We eagerly awaited every summer when we traveled to India, or when he visited us in Charlotte, North Carolina. Those moments were filled with warmth, laughter, and the quiet comfort of his unwavering presence.​

 

As we grew older, we began to realize something profound: He just did not belong only to us-he belonged to everyone. A dedicated pediatrician, he served infants from far-flung villages, often providing care free of charge to families who could not afford treatment. We watched in awe as he placed his patients above everything else, even his own health. Each child was his responsibility, his priority, his purpose.Over time, the toll of his selfless dedication became evident. Years of uncontrolled high blood pressure, genetically inherited diabetes, and the stress of an unrelenting medical profession led to chronic kidney disease. Yet, he continued to serve—never stepping back from his calling.​

 

On the fateful day of February 16, 2020, our grandpa suffered a stroke and slipped into a coma. During those difficult moments, our family truly understood the depth of his impact. Countless people came to see him, each carrying a unique story of how he had saved their child’s life. Their gratitude painted a powerful picture of a man whose healing touch had changed generations.At his funeral, we found a bittersweet sense of closure. Though we had lost the person we loved the most, we realized that he lives on-immortal in the hearts of the innumerable lives he saved.​

 

To honor his legacy, my brother and I established the Dr. Chandra Sekhar Das Foundation. Through this foundation, we aim to raise awareness about stroke, its causes, and prevention, while also providing support to families facing chronic illnesses. Having witnessed firsthand the emotional and physical turmoil that patients and caregivers endure, we are committed to extending a helping hand-just as our gradfather always did.This foundation is not just a tribute; it is a continuation of his life’s work.
